Hotel Metropole Suisse - Classic Room

Opening the electric window blinds in my room at Hotel Metropole Suisse, I had beautiful views of Lake Como and the Funicular. The 4-star hotel stands in the perfect lakefront location in the heart of the city of Como, Italy. Established in 1892, Hotel Metropole Suisse has been enjoyed by royalty and many famous personalities.

The City of Como, Italy

Hotel Metropole Suisse is a Lake Como luxury hotel that sits in the heart of the city of Como, across one street from the lake. With easy access and situated between the city of Milan and the Switzerland border, it is an ideal location for locals and tourists who want to visit northern Italy. The train station is a short five-minute walk from the hotel and ferries are across the street making this hotel one of the best places to stay in Lake Como.

Como is a very cultural and historic city. Walk through the old city’s cobblestone streets to discover numerous symbolic buildings including the beautiful Cathedral San Fedele, Villa Olmo, and Tempio Voltaino. Stroll through the famous Palazzo Terragni and along the lakefront. If time allows, take a boat trip and enjoy the stunning views of the area or hop on the funicular and visit Brunate. Numerous outdoor activities are also available including windsurfing, water skiing, hiking, and golfing.

Close to the hotel in Como is the cozy il Ducato Restaurant, where you can dine in or get some great things to go. If you decide to eat in, reservations are strongly encouraged. Also, within about a ten-minute walk is the delicious Breeze Inn Restaurant. It was my favorite when I was there, and with a new menu every month it is always fresh. Reservations are strongly recommended.
